When people first see a jar of Zen Bear Honey Tea, it is not uncommon for us to see a confused face. After all, isn’t tea supposed to be in a bag or dried leaves?
Not for us! At Zen Bear, we start with honey. In Oriental medicine, honey is hypotonic, which means it draws out flavors. This characteristic of honey makes it the perfect medium for drawing out herbal essences and the energies of spices.
Infusing the tea into the honey makes for a comforting experience that just makes you feel good all over.
Our main mission here at Zen Bear Honey Tea is to provide a sense of comfort, well-being and happiness. We truly believe that by feeling this type of comfort and peace, you open yourself up to gratitude. We want our honey tea to inspire people to do good in the world, while inspiring others to do the same.
There are so many positives to using honey as a base for tea that go beyond its calming nature.
Honey, of course, has a number of healthful benefits. The antioxidants in honey can help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease. Honey is a natural way to reduce our coughing and throat irritation. It is antibacterial, can help heal wounds and burns and is nourishing for our skin. It can even help your body regulate its blood sugar level.
Plus honey tastes great. Why wouldn’t we want to add tea to it?
For our six Zen Bear Honey Tea flavors, we start with wildflower honey made locally here in Maine. The bees are busy all summer in the Aroostook Valley fields and meadows of northern Maine.
We balance the honey with herbs and spices that enhance the health benefits and add a wonderful taste.
All you have to do is add a spoonful of our honey tea to hot water and you are ready to enjoy the blissful experience of tea-infused honey.
There’s much more you can do with a jar of Zen Bear Honey Tea, but we’ll leave those tips and recipes for another blog post.
Stay tuned for more on the herbs and spices we use, the benefits of honey and tea, and much, much more.
